Plant breeding is Genetic manipulation of plants for the service of man or evolution directed by the will of man. But what is evolution?
Organic evolution is defined as the sum total of adaptive changes from pre-existing or old form that has taken place over a long time, resulting in diversity of forms, structure and functions among organisms.
The concept behind organic evolution is that living things came into existence from pre-existing things and that the various species and varism by a gradual process of change over a very long period of time.
The present day specie have not always existed in the present form, but are arisen from the present anscestors. There are approximately two million species of animals and plant living today. The question to which all biologists seek and answer is how and thus tremendous diversities of life come to exist on the planet..
