Biostatistics and reseacrch Methodology [STM315]. Class two.

Second lecture on Biostatistics and research methodology.

The lecturer talked about revision of statistics.... (which he taught in the first class) he said he did this because the environmental biology student are just joining the class...

See lecture on the first class here....

He also talked about some other things he didn't mention in the first class which i would write out...

                           Second class
Population: he said "it is the total number of objects in an area of interest.

Sample: is the fractional part of the entire population.

           There are two main sampling techniques which include;
1. Probability sampling Techniques
2. Non-probability sampling Techniques.

      1. Probability sampling techniques is a sampling technique in which every member of the poplulation as a known probability (but no zero) of being selected. It is divided into;

i. Simple random sampling: in which every member of the population has equal chance of being selected among the samples....

Assignment
Explain the remaining four divisions of probability sampling

ii. Stratified sampling.
iii. Cluster sampling.
iv. Systematic sampling.
v. Multi- stage sampling.

2. Non probability sampling:
i. Quota sampling.
ii. Purposive Sampling.
iii. Convenient sampling.
iv. Snowball Sampling.

Note that there are more;

Solutions will be posted in the next post...
